I am seeking clarity on gov’t’s policy welcoming other nationals to live in Guyana

Dear Editor,

At a recent meeting at the Guyana High Commission in London, the Hon. Minister Gail Teixeira stated, during a discussion on the current conflict in Eastern Europe, that the Guyana Government was encouraging other nationals to come and live in Guyana. Presumably this policy is to increase the general population, with the Amerindian population apparently being the fastest increasing ethnic group.

On this premise, could the Government enlighten me as to the its procedure for Ukrainians applying for residency in Guyana   I am trying to help a Ukrainian family consisting of a young boy with his elderly grandmother with their accommodation needs in the UK.  As a Guyanese national overseas, I would be prepared to provide them with accommodation at my Harmony Academy, which is currently being refurbished in the Ancient County of Berbice.

Sincerely,

Robert S. Drepaul BSc.
