The pugilist defeated Venezuelan opponent, Diego Mejia unanimously (5-0) in their 80kg quarterfinal bout yesterday to clinch a berth in the final four.
Amsterdam, will face Benjamin Grimaux of Argentina in semi-final 1 tomorrow with a finals berth on his mind.
Earlier this year, Amsterdam snared a bronze medal at the AMBC Elite Championships in Ecuador.
Meanwhile, Guyana’s other boxing representatives at the Games, Keevin Allicock (57kg) and Colin Lewis (63.5kg) will spring into quarterfinal action today.
Allicock will face Darwin Perez of Peru, while Lewis will face Leodan Savoy, also of Peru.
