A 22-year-old motorcyclist was taken into custody on Sunday after the police allegedly found an unlicensed firearm and several live rounds concealed in his pants crotch.
The police in a press release issued yesterday said the discovery was made around 15.15 hrs during a stop and search exercise.
At the time, the suspect who has been identified as Dave Williams, a labourer of Skull City, West Bank Demerara was on motorcycle, CJ 2534.
The police said Williams was stopped by ranks on a mobile patrol and a search was carried out on his person during which a .38 snub nose revolver containing three live .38 rounds was found in his pants crotch.
The suspect was arrested and cautioned during which he told the police that he got the firearm from a “Sherwin”, the police said.
The firearm was marked, sealed and lodged and Williams remains in police custody as the police conduct further investigations.
