Botofago and Netrockers clinched contrasting wins, when the Upper Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued on Monday evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Linden.
Botofago dismantled the home side Topp XX by a 3-0 scoreline. It was the Haynes’ show as siblings Jamal and Shayne Haynes ran riot against the Topp XX backline. Jamaal, who is highly regarded for his exploits in the beach football format, recorded the only goal of a cagey first half, as he slammed his effort beyond the reach of the goalkeeper into the far corner in the 39th minute.
The brother would take over the scoring burden in the second half, fashioning two goals in the space of six minutes to extinguish any hopes of a Topp XX comeback. Shayne Haynes opened his account with a well-placed shot into the back of the net in the 75th minute to make it 2-0 and he would make his presence felt once more, securing a deserved double and the eventual result with another strike to the lower right corner in the 81st minute.
In another fixture, Netrockers overcame Eagles United 2-1. Shaquille Frank broke the deadlock in favour of Netrockers in the 28th minute only for Donovan Francis to restore parity to proceedings with a left-footed shot in the 42nd minute. Nevertheless, Joel Isaacs sealed the win for Netrockers as he converted from the penalty mark in the 65th minute, following an infraction inside the 18 yard box.
On Sunday at the same venue, Capital FC downed Milerock 2-0. Tyric McAllister and Emmanuel Atkins scored in the 50th and 88th minute respectively.
Also, Amelia’s Ward and Eagles FC contested a 1-1 stalemate. Dixie Peters handed Amelia’s Ward the lead in the 31st minute, whilst Dexter Milo levelled proceedings in the 82nd minute.
