Shawn Persaud, called Shawn Yhap, a 46-year-old unemployed man of Lot 67 Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown was yesterday sentenced to two years in jail over a break and enter, the police say.
Persaud and Aaliya Gonsalves, also known as Aaliya Persaud, an 18-year-old female were arrested on 2022/10/12 by Cpl. Europe of the Mahaica Police Station and charged with break and enter and larceny committed against Diana Agrippa.
They both appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #1 before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool where the charge was read to them.
Shawn Persaud pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years imprisonment. The police added that the same Shawn Persaud had appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court #2 before Magistrate Alisha George and was also sentenced to two years imprisonment for an offence of a similar nature.
Meanwhile, Aaliya Persaud pleaded not guilty and was placed on 20,000 bail.
The next court date is 9th November 2022.
