Inventiveness and predilection for innuendo

Dear Editor,

I was sufficiently moved by Freddie Kissoon’s pleas to have letters written by him and cohorts published in Stabroek News, that I now ask, nay, humbly beg that you lower your standards to allow all and sundry space in your publication so that we may truly grasp the state of literacy in our nation. Who needs standards anyways? Let us embrace ad hominem attacks, the refuge of the mentally lazy and paid political hacks.

I must also confess that when Kissoon said “Really, Mr. Singh, I am compelled to pronounce your understanding of journalism as incredibly poor” I had a rethink and have come to the conclusion that my expectation that journalism should be based on truth, facts, accuracy, humanity, and accountability has no place in Kissoon’s world and I (and you) should make haste to adapt to Kissoon’s utopia of inventiveness and predilection for innuendo instead of research and facts.

Editor, one caution, before we begin our descent into ‘idiocracy’ we should consider Edmund Burke’s reflections after the French revolution that the people had thrown off not only “their political servitude” but also “the yoke of laws and morals” … talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Sincerely

Robin Singh
