Topp XX downed Silver Shattas 4-2 when the Upper Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued on Friday evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground, Linden.

The home side overcame a 1-2 first-half deficit to secure the result. The visitors took the lead in the form of Damion Williams in the 13th minute. Aminiki Mayers would then restore parity to proceedings, as he directed his effort into the right corner in the 38th minute.

However, Silver Shattas quickly reclaimed the lead, as experienced forward Damion Williams blasted his effort past the custodian in the 40th minute.

Nevertheless, it proved to be a game of two halves, as the home side tallied three unanswered goals to clinch the victory. Mayers commenced the comeback, as he equalised in the 50th minute to complete his double.

Ryan Noel then made his presence felt in the 66th minute with a powerful drive into the far corner to give the hosts their first lead of the match at 3-2. The result was sealed in the form of veteran midfielder Travis ‘Chicken’ Watterton, who rifled into the back of the net in the 88th minute.

Meanwhile, Eagles and Capital FC played to a 1-1 stalemate. Both conversions occurred in the first half of a very physical encounter. Qualon Andries propelled Eagles into the initial lead compliments of an eighth minute strike.

The lead proved to be short-lived, as Tyric McAllister fashioned the equaliser with a 30th minute shot into the back of the net. The event continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
