Ashoka Buildcom Limited, the Indian contractor for the road linking the East Bank of Demerara with the East Coast of Demerara has advertised for dozens of workers as preparations for the project get underway.
The US$106m four-lane road will be built from the intersection of the Ogle Airstrip Road and the Rupert Craig Highway, East Coast Demerara towards Haags Bosch, Eccles, East Bank Demerara.
In an advertisement in yesterday’s Guyana Times, Ashoka Buildcon is seeking 50 to 100 skilled and unskilled labourers; 30 dump truck drivers; five L.M.V drivers, five transit mixer drivers, five excavator operators and other classes of workers.
The advertisement said that candidates with a minimum of three to five years should apply for the relevant openings.
Walk-in interviews are set for October 21st and October 22nd between 10am and 4pm. The location is Lot 5, Ogle, East Coast Demerara (second right after the Ogle Airstrip).
Government on June 24th signed the contract for the construction of the long-awaited road link.
The project will see the construction of a 7.8-kilometer four-lane road, with each lane being 3.6 meters wide. In addition to a median, the road will also feature sidewalks and supporting structures.
A US$3.2m contract was also signed with between the ministry and RITES Ltd of India for consultancy services.
