A catering consortium that will bid to supply food to oil and gas vessels offshore is one step closer to being established.
A press statement from the Ministry of Natural Resources yesterday said that Minister Vickram Bharrat and a team of technical officers as well as the local content secretariat and the Guyana Office for Investment (G-Invest) met with caterers and food services providers to begin establishing a catering consortium – which will comprise of companies from across Guyana.
The catering consortium will bid for contracts to provide meals and food supplies to offshore oil producing platforms. The meeting come after President Irfaan Ali’s announcement of the government’s intention to establish a catering consortium.
According to the statement, Bharrat told some 100 persons who attending the meeting that another meeting will be held soon and urged that they remain continually engaged with the Ministry’s and Local Content Secretariat’s technical staff to coordinate and facilitate the process to build capacity within the local catering sector.
