Guyana’s Samara Sukhai will wake up this morning a Caribbean champion but fellow Guyanese Jasmin Billingy and Malachi Moore will be crestfallen after losing in their finals bid.
In yesterday’s final Sukhai defeated her teammate Shackecy Damon 11-5, 11-2, 11-5.
“It just feels amazing like you have the title for the rest of your life,” Sukhai told Stabroek Sports in an invited comment.
“Next Caribbean I won’t be able to participate in the Under-11 but hopefully I can win the U-13, “she added.
Guyana’s Seona Barker and Nakeiva Fordyce were joint third after Barker lost 12-10, 11-9, 11-9, 9-11 and 11-9 to Damon and Fordyce lost 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 to Sukhai.
In the U13 boys final St Lucia’s Manie Eleuthere and Guyana’s Malachi Moore met for the second time in the competition and once again it was the St Lucian who prevailed.
The two had met in the boys U13 team final where Eleuthere’s win gave the St Lucians a 3-2 win and the team title.
Yesterday, it was individual honours and revenge at stake but once again it was the St Lucian who was the last man standing winning 13-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-13 and 11-5.
Moore took a 7-5 lead in the first game but relinquished that lead and the first set which he lost at deuce.
He redeemed himself by winning the second set but lost the third.
He gained another lease on life when he took the fourth set again narrowly at deuce but lost the fifth badly and the crown in the process.
Trinidad’s Sekel Mc Intosh and Guyana’s Ebo Mc Neil were joint third
In the girls U13 final, Guyana’s Jasmine Billingy lost an entertaining match filled with rallies in four games to Shatal Charles of St Lucia who won 11-5, 6-11, 11-6 and 11-6.
Trinidad’s Lyllana Boodhhan and Jamaica’s Keeara Whyte were joint third

Guyana ended first with 1640 points followed by Jamaica second on 1080, Trinidad third with 780 and St Lucia fourth with 760.
