A Kitty youth was arrested on Wednesday after police officers found marijuana and molly on his person during a cordon and search exercise at Stabroek Market.
According to a Guyana Police Force press release, between 09:30 and 10:15 hrs, a gazzeted officer and a party of police ranks conducted the exercise in the Stabroek Market area.
The 20-year-old man, of Garnett Street, Newtown, Kitty, was searched and transparent Ziploc bags were found in his pants crotch. The small bags contained a quantity of whitish substance, suspected to be molly. A further search was carried out on him and two ziploc bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, were found in one of his pockets. He was told of the offence, cautioned, arrested and escorted to the Brickdam Police Station. The molly amounted to 3.7 grammes and the quantity of leaves, seeds and stems amounted to 7 grammes.
Further searches were carried out in the area led to the discovery of a black plastic bag, which was found on a chair. It contained several transparent Ziploc packs with leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, which amounted to 98.1 grammes.
