The Guyana Badminton Association’s National junior’s championship got underway at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with several entertaining bouts Thursday.
In the boy’s Under-19 singles, Xavio Alexander brushed aside Frank Waddell 21-10, 21-14 while Aiden Bhagwandin defeated Micheal Moorsalin 21-15, 21-12. Jonathan Robinson secured victory over Matthew Spooner in a close contest, eventually prevailing 21-19, 22-20. In the other matches, Raah Russell defeated Karsen Abrams (21-17, 21-18), Haresh Persaud beat Juan Ferreira (21-17, 21-18), Viraj Singh got past Jedidiah Uwagboe (21-12, 21-17) and Manav Sharma blew past Nathan Morrison (21-11, 21-6).
