National Jr., badminton tournament serves off

Some of the participants at the Guyana Badminton Association’s national junior championships which got underway Thursday.

The Guyana Badminton Association’s National junior’s championship got underway at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with several entertaining bouts Thursday.

In the boy’s Under-19 singles, Xavio Alexander brushed aside Frank Waddell 21-10, 21-14 while Aiden Bhagwandin defeated Micheal Moorsalin 21-15, 21-12. Jonathan Robinson secured victory over Matthew Spooner in a close contest,  eventually prevailing 21-19, 22-20. In the other matches, Raah Russell defeated Karsen Abrams (21-17, 21-18), Haresh Persaud beat Juan Ferreira (21-17, 21-18), Viraj Singh got past Jedidiah Uwagboe (21-12, 21-17) and Manav Sharma blew past Nathan Morrison (21-11, 21-6).
