Dear Editor,
In response to Vishnu Bisram’s letter titled “Too harsh” concerning Attorney General Nandlall’s breach of confidence in a CCJ matter, one must observe that the PPP apologists will never stand up for what is right. Their politicians can do as they please and perhaps get a little tap on the wrist. In some other democratic countries with strong values for the preservation of justice and good governance, he would have at least been reprimanded by the President for causing regional embarrassment.
The CCJ must adhere to international standards of jurisprudence and management and they have proposed appropriate sanctions. Nandlall will not be reproached by Ali or any in his party, no matter the consequences for Guyana. The complicit, lenient attitude exhibited by the letter writer is reflective of the sentiments “is awe own, leff am”. All Guyanese, especially the legal fraternity who will be affected by the CCJ’s sanctions deserve an apology from Nandlall, will we ever get one? Don’t hold your breath.
Sincerely,
Jill Croton
