Silver Shattas and Capital FC secured contrasting wins when the Upper Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League and Namilco U17 Championship continued on Sunday evening.
Hosted at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden, Silver Shattas squeaked past Winners Connection 1-0. In what was a bruising contest, Kas Benjamin separated the two teams with a second half conversion.
Following a scoreless first half interval, Benjamin slotted his effort into the far corner in the 75th minute to seal the outcome. Meanwhile, Capital FC made light work of Silver Stars 4-1 in the U17 Championship.
Capital FC raced into the early lead following two goals in the space of nine minutes. Kevland Samuels opened his account with a fourth minute strike. This was followed by a Kellon Hintzen effort in the 13th minute.
Silver Stars lone conversion occurred in the 25th minute, as they briefly reduced the deficit. However, any hopes of a Silver Star comeback was extinguished as Capital FC recorded a further two conversions in the space of six minutes.
Nicheem Fraser made his presence felt to push the score to 3-1, as he slammed his effort into the back of the net in the 41st minute. The contest ended as it began, with Samuels sealing his brace and the scoreline with a 47th minute strike.
