The Guyana Harpy Eagles batsmen made full use of the conditions Tuesday night at the National Stadium as the team concluded its second warm-up match ahead of the Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 tournament. Junior Sinclair ended with 2-63 while Joseph returned 2-77, both from 10 overs. In the Select XI’s innings, Shepherd ran through the top order, reducing them to 38 for seven as he picked up 4-7 from four overs.
It took an 83-run, last-wicket partnership between Akshaya Persaud and Quinten Sampson to give the Select XI some amount of hope and frustrate the Eagles bowling.
Persaud ended on 65 not out from 79 balls after hitting six fours and one six while Sampson ended on 55 from 27 balls. His innings featured six sixes and two fours before he was caught and bowled by Veerasammy Permaul, who ended with 3-39.
