The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security yesterday said that it was investigating an alleged incident at the Hugo Chavez Rehabilitation Centre at Onverwagt, West Berbice involving a male resident and a female resident.
In a statement on its Facebook page yesterday, the ministry said a report was made to the Guyana Police Force and it is currently investigating the matter.
“The Ministry pledges to leave no stone unturned in this matter. Acts of this nature are unacceptable and go against everything that the Ministry tries to curb”, the statement said.
It noted that the centre currently houses mentally challenged persons and those fighting drug addiction.
