Following an exciting night of round of 16 fixtures, the quarterfinal matchups in the ExxonMobil Futsal Championship commence this evening at the Retrieve Hard Court in Linden.
In the opening affair, Young Men’s Christian Association will oppose One Side FC at 19.00 hours. This will be followed by the DC Ballers and Achievers clash at 20.00 hours. In the third encounter, Silver Bullets will lock horns with Team Unknown from 21.00 hours, whilst Warriors engage Team R9 in the final fixture at 22:00hrs.
The winner of the tournament will receive $500,000, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will pocket $200,000, and $100,000 respectively. The fourth place finisher will receive a trophy.
Meanwhile, director of the tournament coordinators, New Era Entertainment, Aubrey Major, during an official press release, stated that the tournament is the ideal platform for the players to display their respective talents in the shorter form of the discipline.
“As a fellow Lindener, I am proud to be able to organize this event with my team because throughout the tournament thus far we continue to see the level of talent that Linden is capable of producing. All of the teams that participated are solely Linden football clubs and to see young men like myself pay an interest in participating in sports, I am extremely happy.”
According to the release, a community improvement project involving the winning team will be conducted following the conclusion of the event, as part of the sponsorship agreement with ExxonMobil.
