Lorraine Mitchell turns 100

Minister in the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar yesterday represented President Irfaan Ali at the birthday celebration of  Lorraine Mitchell, who turned 100 years old.

A release from the Ministry of Public Works said that in the company of loved ones, Aunty Lorraine, as she is fondly called, told Indar stories about significant moments in history as she recalled. Born in then Dutch Guiana, the centenarian said she is lucky to have survived the turbulent World War II period as she was on the last ship to then British Guiana before another vessel was bombed.
