Keep Pooran, Windies is a team, not a one man show

Dear Editor,

I believe in Nicholas Pooran. If WI were to sack him, then what? Hire another captain and when he performs poorly, cuss and sack him too? Form is temporary, class is permanent. He wouldn’t have gotten the captaincy in the first place, if he wasn’t good enough. Under his belt, he has series victories against the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Australia, and Sri Lanka.

Nicholas Pooran must channel his testicular fortitude to withstand the heat and turn around his performance and West Indies’ fortune. Captaincy for the Red Force to defend this upcoming Super 50 would do him wonders. Support from his countrymen and confidence in a familiar set-up is an ideal reset button.

It’s up to him to manage his workload and look after his body. Nicholas Pooran should be Nicholas Pooran, not Clive Lloyd, not Richie Richardson, or Daren Sammy. West Indies are a team, it’s not a one man show. Have faith in this group of players, administrators of CWI and Nicholas Pooran, it will click.

Sincerely,

Kendell Karan
