The event which gets underway from November 15 in the city of La Nucia, will attract the cream of the world’s teen boxers.
A trio of Guyanese will be among them. They are, Alisha Jackman (53kg), Travis Inverary (63.5kg) and Jaqwan Milo – (71kg).
This is according to treasurer of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) and Manager of the six-member team, Dexter Patterson.
Patterson told this publication yesterday that along with himself and coaches, Sebert Blake and Francisco Roldan, the three pugilists are awaiting to travel to Suriname in order to receive their visas.
“Either on Friday or in the new week we will be traveling to get the visas.”
A Schengen visa is required by locals to travel to Spain. The visa is a short-stay visa that allows a person to travel to any member of the Schengen area, per stay up to 90 days for tourism, sport or business purposes.
Patterson disclosed that once the visas are issued, the team will jet off by November 11.
The Youth world championship began in 1979 in Yokohama, Japan and has been held biennially since 1990.
