Dear Editor,
The Flying Stars Cycling Club’s Duckie Memorial and the 50th Anniversary races were a resounding success. As founder of the club, and on behalf of its first president, Neville Rutherford, I am extremely grateful to the members and friends who contributed to this success.
I must thank the rock on which the club stands, Mr William Howard, aka Howie, for excellence in commitment and dedication to the club and cycling in general. I’m also indebted to the generous sponsors whose support put that radiant smile on the faces of cyclists upon receiving their prizes: National Sports Commission, Quali-test Medical Lab, Errol Walcott, Sybil’s Restaurant, Neville Hunte, Michael Rogers, Cecil Bernard, Keith Massey, Horace Burrowes, Colin Chichester, Winslow Panky Richmond, Randolph Toussaint, Dr Winston Lawrence, Shaquel Agard, Annette John, Kevin Jeffrey, Compton Baksh, Local Logistics, and The Home of K-Cup Coffee in Guyana +592-655-8437.
I express heartfelt appreciation for the support of all competitors, spearheaded by Bruce Camacho of Canada, and I acknowledge the input of Enzo Matthews for live streaming the Sunday event, the spirited coverage of sports writer Emmerson Campbell, as well as the invaluable assistance of Attorney-at-Law Mark Conway, former Prime Minister, Hamilton Green, Guyana Olympic Association Secretary, Hector Edwards, and Guyana Cycling Federation President Linden Dowridge.
Looking forward to October 2023 for our 2nd Annual Event which will be ‘bigger and better’. We can do it!
Yours sincerely,
Victor Rutherford
