After two days of intense battle at the Lusignan Golf Course in the GTT Guyana Open tournament, Avinash Persaud secured his 11th title while Shanella London retained her championship in the female division yesterday.
Persaud returned the best gross over the two days with 150 while Fiji’s Jalen Raman, who had the best gross of day one, was second with a gross of 152. Suriname’s Ridel Doekoe completed the podium with a gross score of 160.
Former president of the Lusignan Golf Club, Aleem Hussain, secured the best net on day one with 72 in the 0-9 handicap while Rackesh Harry with 71 had the best net of day two. Over in the 10-18 handicap, Seupaul Suknanan had the best net of 68 on day one while Ayube Subhan had the best net of 72 on day two. Suknanan would go on to have the best gross of the category with 166.
In the 19-28 handicap, Roy Dhari had the best gross of the two days with 181 after winning best net on day one with 69. Karim Hanif had the best net on day two with 64. Brian Hackett secured the best gross of the opening day with 92 while Hanif had the honors in the second day with 89.
The longest drive on day one was won by Raman while Persaud took the nearest to pin honours. Former champion, Avinda Kishore, won the longest drive on day two and Lakeram Ramsundar the nearest to pin on the final day.
In the ladies’ division, London ended with a gross of 171. London also had the longest drives on both days. Second place went to Christine Sukhram with 175. Julie Stephenson copped third with 183.
