Dear Editor,
I returned to Guyana after living several years overseas, my family and I bought a house in Good Hope Phase Three on the East Coast of Demerara. Recently we have been experiencing frequent water issues, and I reported the matter to GWI, and they cannot figure out why the water pressure is so low.
I started asking around my neighborhood if anyone is experiencing the same issue, and they all confirm the same. We decided to do our own investigation, and it was discovered that a squatter who is occupying a land illegally at the head of Phase Three housing scheme has made an illegal connection and is filling a water pond 24hrs to water his garden and for rearing pigs.
Editor, I was dismayed and beyond shock at what is taking place, the illegal water connection is not only affecting hundreds of residents, but it can cause serious waterborne outbreak in this community, and I am pleading and hoping the relevant authority reads this letter and something can be done urgently about illegal activities that is taking place in this village.
Sincerely,
Ryon Samaroo
