Nursery school teachers participate in behaviour management workshop

A total of 61 nursery school teachers participated in a two-day Behaviour Management Workshop to build their knowledge to assess students’ behaviours and create a positive learning environment.
In a Facebook post, the National Centre for Educational Resource and Development (NCERD) said the workshop was held in its auditorium building at Kingston, Georgetown, and targeted nursery school teachers from Education District Four (4).
The training was hosted by the Special Education Needs (SEN) Unit of NCERD in collaboration with their SEN counterpart from the Education District Four (4) office.
Wednesday’s session saw 33 teachers from schools on the East Bank of Demerara, while Thursday’s workshop included 28 teachers from schools on the East Coast of Demerara.
The workshop focused on three main areas; namely: Examining common classroom behaviours; Understanding learners’ behaviours; and Creating a climate for good behaviour.
Special Education Officer Uette Mitchell emphasised that training sessions of this nature are essential because it helps to foster a positive learning environment for teachers and students.
NCERD said it has been working continuously to expand the knowledge and skills of teachers across Guyana, and this training demonstrates the entity’s commitment to achieving this goal.
