An Upper Corentyne family is now mourning the loss of a young teacher attached to the Skeldon Line Path Secondary School who collapsed yesterday morning and died soon after.
The deceased is Dharmini Parshad, 26.
According to information gathered, as the school was preparing for the much anticipated graduation yesterday, where Parshad’s sister was expected to graduate as the best graduating student, the young teacher collapsed around 08.15 hrs in the staff room after informing those around her that she was feeling “bad.”
Parshad was immediately picked up and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where she died about thirty minutes after arriving.
The young woman’s relatives were unable to speak yesterday as they were in a state of shock trying to come to terms with the sudden death of the teacher.
Stabroek News was told that prior to the episode Parshad did not complain of feeling ill.
Commander of Region Six, Shivpersaud Bacchus, yesterday told Stabroek News that the matter was reported yesterday afternoon and investigators were en route to gather information.
Parshad was described as a kind and quiet young woman who was full of potential. She is survived by her husband, who teaches at the same school, her sister, also a teacher, and her parents.
