Albion Community Centre Cricket Club walked away champions of the Berbice Cricket Board/ Ivan Madray Memorial T20 after beating Young Warriors Cricket Club by nine runs yesterday.
At Port Mourant Cricket Club in front of a decent sized crowd, Young Warriors won the toss and inserted Albion who made 128 for four from their 20-over quota but when it was their turn to bat, Young Warriors could only manage 119 all out in 19.3 overs.
Jonathan Foo anchored Albion’s innings with a top score of 48 from 35 balls.
He struck three sixes and a four while adding 52 with Kelvin Umroa who made 20 from 18 balls.
Sewnarine Chattergoon got Albion off to a good start, scoring 18 from 23 balls while adding 34 runs for the opening partnership with Adrian Sukhwa who made 16 from 18 balls before both batsmen were dismissed by left-arm spinner, Trevon Stanislaus (2-20). Sharaz Ramcharran also chipped in with 14 from 24 balls. Alex Algoo got amongst the wickets, taking 2-29.
Ramcharran returned to stifle Warriors with the ball, taking 3-23 while Leon Cecil grabbed 2-10 and national first-class player, Demetri Cameron picked up 2-23.
Suresh Dhanai top scored with 26 from 36 balls as wickets tumbled around him. Ishwar Singh made 18 before being run out while Linden Austin (16), Algoo (13) and Seon Hetmyer (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
