Ariel and Name Brand will battle in the Open final while Regal and NYSCL will clash in the final of the over-50 category of the sixth Georgetown Softball Cricket Leage (GSCL) Inc., Prime Minister’s T20 Cup which will conclude today at the National Stadium.
In the first Open semi-final at Queen’s College, Ariel batted first and posted 171 for seven off of their reduced quota of 12 overs. Jonathan Fernandes made 63 while Keon Sinclair scored 45 and Zamal Khan supported with 18 not out. Asif Hyman took 2-50.
In reply, Speedboat ran out of fuel and folded for 82 all out in 9.5 overs. Davendra Mohan made 18 while Safaz Esau scored 12. Eon Hooper bagged 4-34 while Sinclair returned to take 3-19. Fernandes took 2-17.
In the second semi-final Name Brand defeated Regal by six wickets. Regal, batting first, posted 131 for six in their 12-over quota. Sachin Singh scored 49 with support coming from Delroy Perreira (24) and Fazal Rafiek (22 not out). J. Sampson and K. Gangaram took two wickets each for Name Brand.
In response, Name Brand reached 136 for four with two balls to spare. S. Sukul top scored with 48 while A. Judister made 25 and Gangaram, 23. Kevin Orford picked up two wickets for Regal.
In the over-50 semi-final at the Muslim Youth Organisation ground, Regal Legends marched into the final with a five-wicket win over Parika Defenders who failed to defend 136. Defenders lost eight wickets in their innings with Oswald Chandla top scoring with 44. Eric Thomas bagged 2-14. Regal Legends then coasted to 141 for five with 25 balls to spare. Mohendra Arjune led the batting with 39 while Ramesh Narine chipped in with 32. Chandla returned to pick up two wickets.
Meanwhile at Eve Leary, NYSCL managed 138 for eight in 15 overs. Ravi Sahadeo scored 41 while Mahase Chunilall picked up 3-16. East Coast Legends were bowled out for 85 in 13.1 overs in reply. Chunilall made 31 while Quayam Farouk, Doodnauth Nandalall, Jagdesh Persaud and Ronald Evelyn took two wickets each.
Also, 4R Lioness and Trophy Stall Angels will clash in the female final. Both teams won their semi-finals. Regal and Ariel will play in the over 40 final after winning their respective semi-final games.
