Businessman Roopan Ramotar seeking prescriptive title to part of Plantation Exmouth

Businessman Roopan Ramotar has applied to the court for prescriptive title to a property in Plantation Exmouth in the Essequibo Coast Village of Dartmouth.

In a notice published in the November 12 edition of Stabroek News, Ramotar of Spring Garden Essequibo Coast notified the public of the presentation of a Petition for a Declaration of Title  by prescription.

The schedule attached to the notice identified the property as “Lot numbered (one) being part of block lettered B, being a portion of lot numbered 12 (twelve) and half of lot numbered 13 (thirteen) known together as Plantation Exmouth, in the Dartmouth Village District…save and except the building on the said Block, the said property of other persons and also save and except one acre of and part of the said plantation bounded on the north west by Plantation Elizabeth and on the north east by the Public Road of the said plantation, transported on the 12th day of April, 1838 to the lord Bishop of the Diocese and such parts or portions of the said plantation Exmouth as have been sold and transported or not yet transported…”

Any person intending to oppose Ramotar’s petition has one month from November 12, 2022 to serve the relevant papers. The petitioner’s address for service is at the Chambers of his attorneys, R N Poonai, S J Poonai and Naresh Poonai of Lot 153 Charlotte Street, Lacytown, Georgetown.
