A pedestrian is currently hospitalised in a serious condition after he was injured in an accident along the Ogle Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) yesterday afternoon.
Injured is Harrylall Boodram, 60 of Lusignan Grass Field, ECD.
Police last night confirmed the accident which occurred around 16.05hrs.
Reports are that Boodram was standing on the parapet on the southern side of the road when motorcar, PWW 3734 struck him.
The driver, who was identified by the police as Shiva Mangra, 38, of Industry Crown Dam, ECD is presently in custody assisting with investigation.
According to the police, enquiries revealed that the motor car was proceeding along the southern carriageway of the public road, at a fast rate when Mangra lost control and collided with Boodram.
As a result of the collision, the police said Boodram was flung several feet away.
The motorcar then hit a nearby building before it turned turtle.
Boodram fell onto the road surface and sustained injuries to his head and body.
He was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). His condition is listed as serious.
The police said the driver was subject to a breathalyser test which read .118 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) and .117 BAC, respectively.
