The presentation of prizes for the recent 2022 ExxonMobil Football Championships took place yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Charlestown Secondary, winner of both the boys and girls divisions respectively, received a combined $600,000 for their efforts, which was converted into the acquisition of projectors, laptops, printers, speakers, and complete football kits.
Ann’s Grove, who finished second in the boy’s division and received $150,000, built a school shed, and purchased a printer with their winnings.
East Ruimveldt, the girl’s runner-up, converted their winnings of $150,000 towards the purchase of fans, bicycles, helmets and microwaves.
Meanwhile, boy’s third place finisher Cummings Lodge, procured football kits with their $75,000 earnings. This was also done by girl’s third place finisher New Campbellville Secondary, who were also awarded the identical figure.
Fourth place finishers East Ruimveldt and New Campbellville in the boy’s and girl’s divisions respectively, also bought football gear with their earnings of $40,000 apiece.
Ryan Hoppie, ExxonMobil Community Relations Advisor, commended the schools for their participation in the tournament, adding that the company will continue to support the advancement of the student athlete culture.
He noted that the tournament was well executed by the Petra Organization, who have become synonymous with developmental initiatives within the school realm.
