Farfan and Mendes has partnered with a Surinamese businessman to be distributors for Ford Motor Company vehicles In Guyana and has established a Tradewind Automotive Inc (TAI) office at Farm, on the East Bank of Demerara.
While TAI is set to be officially commissioned in February of next year, the company has already started selling vehicles manufactured by the United States multinational automobile company.
Sales and Marketing Supervisor Dannyram Mohabir told Stabroek News that the official opening of the company will coincide with its unveiling of the 2023 model Forde Ranger Rap-tor at the Tract C Public Road, Farm showroom.
He explained that last year, Surinamese businessman and CEO of Suriname Earth Moving Contractors (SEMC) Eric van Ravenswaay, who also is also the Ford Motors dealer in the neighbouring country, entered into a partnership with Farfan and Mendes.
And since last August, they have started selling vehicles, with a focus on trucks.
Mohabir explained that already all the vehicles that the company brought in to showcase have been sold and it was awaiting a new shipment. “The vehicles were sold quickly because they have better specs that cater to the duty allowances in this market. All of the vehicles are new and the four door raptors are 2000cc while similar pick-ups of different brands have much higher CCs and cost nearly twice the amount,” he pointed out.
The duty paid price for a four-door double cab Ford Ranger Raptor is GY$17,428,374.88.
The company’s three-year warranty or what it calls “Bumper to Bumper Warranty” is one of its key attractions, Mohabir noted, as he also informed that buyers also get four free rounds of servicing of their vehicles under their sales agreements.
On the company’s Facebook page, persons are also able to see vehicles available and get cost quotes.
