A twenty-seven-year-old De Willem, West Coast Demerara resident was on Friday night busted with over 800 grammes of cocaine by drug enforcement agents.
The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) in a brief statement yesterday said ranks were conducting an operation at the Meten-Meer-Zorg seawall dam when they intercepted the suspect.
CANU said that at the time, Lorenzo Shewran of Area “G” De Willem was carrying a black plastic bag.
Ranks on the operation after intercepting Shewran conducted a search and discovered a quantity of whitish, rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine in the said bag.
Shewran was escorted to CANU headquarters with the suspected narcotics which tested positive for cocaine and weighed a total of 824 grams.
Investigations are ongoing.
