Port Mourant Cricket Club managed a one-wicket victory over Albion Cricket Club while Rose Hall Canje defeated Edinburgh by 66 runs in the Berbice Cricket Board/Albion Community Centre Cricket Club under-19 tournament this weekend.
At Port Mourant, Albion were bowled out for 125 in 35.1 overs while Port Mourant reached 126 for nine in 33.3 overs.
Salim Khan took 3-29 to lead Port Mourant’s bowling while getting support from Satesh Paras who took 3-36 in five overs. Romel Boodwah also got among the wickets with 2-6 in four overs.
Damion Cecil top scored for Albion with 40 while Extras chipped in with 35. Tameshwar Mangal had the next best score off the bat with 16.
In the chase, Rampertab Ramnauth led the way with 23 while Hemendra Gurdial (19) and Salim Khan (18) supported.
Leon Cecil tried to keep Albion in contention, taking 3-21 as Pavendra Ganesh picked up 2-16 and Kumar Deopersaud grabbing 2-21 but the hosts eventually got over the line.
Meanwhile, Rose Hall Canje won the toss and decided to take first strike, piling on 184 for nine in 44.5 overs before bowling out Edinburgh for 118 in 30 overs.
Andrew Benneth, who came to the crease with his side 85-5, struck an unbeaten 50 in 88 balls with just two boundaries while Avishkar Persaud made 26 and Enrique Mickle scored 14. Zadeen La Rose and Avishkar Beharry had cameos of 13 and 12 respectively but it was extras that top scored with 53.
For Edinburgh, Travon Wharton picked up 4-11 while Ziad Thomas bagged 3-38 in 5.5 overs.
Wharton returned to hit a top score of 45 as his 66-ball innings featured two fours and two sixes. Extras added 31 as only Westley Castello could manage double figures, scoring 17 from 28 balls before being bowled by Mickle.
Romario Ramdeholl was the pick of the bowlers for Rose Hall Canje, taking 3-21 while Benneth and Beharry had two wickets a piece.
