Rose Hall Town Bakewell and Rose Hall Canje `A’ recorded victories in the Berbice Cricket Board/ Dave West Indian Imports 40-overs tournament recently.
RHT Bakewell secured an 83-run win over Belvedere United to book their spot in the Lower Corentyne quarter finals. RHT Bakewell posted 208 for seven from 35 overs with Jonathan Rampersaud top scoring with 93. He was supported by Romesh Bharat, who made 43, and Ryan Kissoonlall with 18. E. Williams picked up 5-24 including a hat trick for United while K. Kamaladin took 1-31.
United were rolled over for 125 in 26.3 overs with Eon Valadium scoring 44 and Reon Malcom hitting 24. Matthew Pottaya picked up 3-30 while Collis Butts, Jeremey Sandhia and Tyreece Sealey took two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Rose Hall Canje `A’ brushed aside Rose Hall Canje President’s XI by 10 wickets. President’s XI were bundled out for 70 in 15.3 overs with Feedee Daniels scoring 15. Adrian Hetmyer took 5-15 while Enrique Mickle took 2-9. Avishkar Persaud led Canje `A’ to victory with a polished 43.
University of Guyana Elites recorded a 167-run win over Kildonan.
Elites posted 242 all out from 35 overs with G. Ramnarine top scoring with 81 and Eon Nunes chipping in with 15. R. Seelall and C. McKenzie took two wickets each. Kildonan were bowled out for 75 in 10.2 overs with Vivik Harripersaud taking 5-24 and Collis Greene returning 4-23. C.
McPherson scored 19.
Kildonan also suffered a three-wicket loss to Ramnarine Memorial after posting 145 in 21 overs. McKenzie and Seelall scored 28 and 15 runs respectively while R. Latcha took 5-23. Seelall returned to take 3-30 but Ramnarine Memorial reached 147 for seven in 26 overs as J. Holder top scored with 35.
Over in West Berbice, Cotton Tree defeated Bath Sports Club by six wickets.
Bath scored 117 with Fawaz Gafoor and Waqar Hassan taking four wickets each. Cotton Tree then reached 120 for six in 16 overs with Nick Ramsaroop making 53 and Daniel Harrynarine supporting with 35.
Cotton Tree also defeated Achievers by 61 runs. Cotton Tree won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 257 for nine from 40 overs. Roshan Gafoor made 71, Pooran Persaud, 68 not out and Fawaz Gafoor 40. Achievers were bowled out for 196 in 32.4 overs with Arthur Bailey hitting 80. Hasan took 4-24.
In the other matches, RHT Bakewell defeated Tamarind Root by 20 runs; Blairmont Blazers beat D’Edward by five wickets; Port Mourant got the better of Tain/Block4 by seven wickets; Elites lost to Whim by four wickets; Edinburgh suffered a 189-run drubbing from Guymine and Port Mourant beat Sandreef by 170 runs.
