A post-mortem examination on 22-year-old Kelly Charlotte yesterday revealed that she died of multiple incised wounds.
According to the Guyana Police Force, Charlotte was stabbed around thirty times.
Meanwhile, the cause of death given for Leston Baynes, who was found hanging in an abandoned house and was the prime suspect in Charlotte’s murder, was given as asphyxiation due to hanging.
Both PMEs were performed by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh and witnessed by Detective Constable Thompson.
Both bodies were handed over to relatives.
Enquiries disclosed that the now-deceased woman ended the relationship with the suspect and was living with her 27-year-old sister at 790 One Mile Extension, Wismar, Linden.
According to the deceased woman’s sister, at about 10 am last Monday, the suspect visited the home and collected his son.
At about 9.15 that night, the suspect returned the child to the house, and Charlotte went to the front door to collect the child.
The 27-year-old woman stated that she was in the kitchen when she heard Charlotte shouting her name.
The woman immediately ran to the front of the house, where she said she saw the suspect stabbing her sister about her body with a knife.
The woman immediately called the police and the suspect escaped.
The 22-year-old woman was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex by police ranks, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
On Tuesday, the Police said that Baynes was found hanging in an abandoned house at Wismar. A rank examined the body, but no mark of violence was seen on the exposed part. The body was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where Baynes was pronounced dead by Doctor Dorrego.
