Local teen star cyclists, Alex Leung (4:12.10) and Aaron Newton (4:13.26) joined Madamsir on the podium in the first edition of the Games which returns from a five-year hiatus.

In the post-race interview, Madamsir said his game plan heading into yesterday’s event was to set a steady tempo and pace himself correctly. He added that himself and teammates will be “going with positive energy” into today’s race and he is “looking forward to winning that too”.

Today’s road race is tentatively set for a 07:30hrs start at Schoonord. The riders will proceed to Parika before returning to the National Track and Field Centre for the finish.

Meanwhile, Leung said he was pleased with his IGG debut and his teammates, Newton, Adjani Cutting, Mario Washington and Sherwin Sampson plan to defend their home turf and sweep today’s event.
