Rosignol won the Region #5 title in the One Guyana President’s Cup Football Championship, defeating Paradise 1-0 on Friday evening at the No. #5 Community Ground, West Coast Berbice.
Carlos Grant found the back of the net in the 85th minute, following a scoreless first-half period, to settle the fixture.
Meanwhile, Weldaad downed Hopetown 2-1 in the third place playoff. Amos Ramsay opened the scoring for the eventual victor in the 14th minute, before Delroy Fraser etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 49th minute.
Paul Michael eventually reduced the deficit for Hopetown compliments of a 53rd minute conversion. In the Region #7 section, Rivers View downed East Bartica 2-0 on Friday.
The event resumes today in the Region #7 zone with a tripleheader. At 18:00hrs, Karrau will oppose Potaro Road, while North Bartica battles Agatash Village at 19:00hrs. In the final match, Rivers View lock horns with West Bartica at 20:00hrs.
The Region #4 division continues tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club ground, Bourda. Buxton/Beterverwagting will oppose Mahaica/Mahaicony at 18:00hrs, while Grove/Diamond/Samatta Point will engage West Ruimveldt/Albouystown at 20:30hrs.
On the other hand, the Region #3 section resumes today at the Anna Regina Multilateral School ground with a doubleheader. In the first fixture at 13:00hrs, Good Hope will oppose Dartmouth while Tapacama will match skills against Henrietta at 15:00hrs.
