In a follow up on the status of the case file on the arrest of an attorney by a Special Organised Crime Unit [SOCU] officer, Communications Officer Liz Rahaman yesterday said the file is still under review by Director of Public Prosecutions [DPP] Shalimar Ali-Hack, SC.
Ali-Hack’s legal recommendations, after reviewing the case file, will be critical in determining what actions, if any, will be taken against the SOCU officer, Krishnadat Ramana. The case file has been at the DPP’s office for over 20 days. On October 27th, Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) Officer Krishnadat Ramana had ordered that attorney Tamieka Clarke be arrested after she advised her client of the right to remain silent while being questioned. Clarke has since sued the State over her arrest by SOCU.
