The 2022 edition of the Diamond Mineral Water International Indoor Hockey Festival will commence this evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.
The tournament, which runs until December 4th, will feature local and regional teams in the form of Trinidad and Tobago clubs competing in four divisions.
They are the Men, Women, Veterans over 35 and Veterans over 45 which division will be making its debut at the competition.
Winner of the Men and Women’s sections respectively will walk away with US$2500 respectively with the respective runners-up receiving US$1000. The eventual victors of the Veterans over 35 and Over 45 divisions will pocket US$1000. The regional teams that have confirmed their participation are: Queens Park, Police Hockey Club and George United.
In the opening match at 18:00hrs, GCC Vintage will oppose YMCA Older Fort in the Over 45 division, while Woodpecker Hikers battle YMCA Old in the Women’s section. At 19:30hrs, Queens Park engages Antonio’s Hikers in the Over 35 pool, with GBTI GCC battling Trinidad and Tobago Police Force at 20:10hrs in the Women’s division.
Saints will then engage YMCA Old Fort in the Men’s A section at 21:00hrs, whilst Bounty GCC opposes Trinidad and Tobago Police Force in the Men’s B division from 21:50hrs.
All matches will be held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The other sponsors of the tournament are Guinness and TLC Guyana, who are the sponsors of the Over 45 and Women’s divisions respectively.
