Central Mackenzie, Christianburg, and Aroaima, recorded contrasting wins when the Region 10 pool of the One Guyana President Cup continued on Wednesday at the Wisburg and Ituni grounds respectively.
Central Mackenzie battled past Silvertown 4-1 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 1-1. Central Mackenzie commenced the shoot-out and started in the perfect manner, as they scored. However, Silvertown got off to the worst possible start, as they were denied by the goalkeeper compliments of a diving save to his left.
Central MacKenzie converted once more to start the second round of penalty kicks to take a 2-0 lead. The aforementioned advantage would remain intact, as Silvertown was denied once more in their second attempt by the goalkeeper diving to his left.
The score then progressed to 3-1, as both teams scored in the third stanza. Central Mackenzie then sealed the result, as they netted to start the fourth round to take an unassailable lead.
Prior to the aforementioned conclusion, Shayne Haynes pushed Silvertown into the initial lead, slamming his effort into the back of the net in the 55th minute, following a scoreless first half period. However, Central Mackenzie equalised in the dying embers of the contest in the form of Rayon Noel, who directed his effort into the corner in the 90th minute.
In another fixture, Christianburg downed West City by a 2-0 score-line. A second-half double from Nicholas Gentle in the 60th and 72nd minute sealed the outcome.
Over at the Ituni ground, Aroaima dismissed Kwakwani 4-1. Devon Torrington bagged a double in the 72nd and 81st minute, whilst Dave Torrington and Sherlock Phillips netted in the sixth and 32nd minute respectively. For the loser, Cassius Campbell found the back of the net in the 48th minute.
