Almost two weeks after a fatal car crash along the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, East Coast Demerara, which claimed the life of Sudesh Mahadeo, the driver who was hospitalised has succumbed.
He has been identified as 19-year-old Ricardo Singh, of Foulis Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Traffic Chief Dennis Stephens confirmed to the Sunday Stabroek that Singh succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
Information posted on Facebook by friends and family stated that he will be cremated today.
On November 19, Mahadeo, 18, of Bee Hive, ECD, was pronounced dead on the scene.
A third individual, who was also injured, has been identified as Komal Rewtie, 19, also of Bee Hive, ECD.
At the time, Mahadeo was seated in the front passenger seat of the car, PKK 2362 owned by an Enmore, ECD resident. Rewtie was in the back seat of the car.
According to the police, enquiries revealed that the car was proceeding east along the northern carriageway of the public road, at a fast rate of speed, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle spun twice and crashed into a concrete fence just off the road’s northern edge, the police said.
As a result of the crash, Mahadeo was flung through the front windshield and onto the road surface.
Rewtie and the driver were stuck in the vehicle.
An ambulance was summoned and Mahadeo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Singh was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) in a critical condition.
