Progress is defined as the forward and onward movement towards a destination or goal.

For Asanti Conway, she is proud of her progress following her last show and is ‘pumped as her muscles’ to unwrap a pre-Christmas present to bodybuilding and fitness fans when the flagship National Senior Championships is staged on December 18 at the National Cultural Centre.

The 2020 Miss Bikini (Novices) Champion told this publication yesterday that after capturing a silver medal at this year’s CAC in Barbados, she returned home and went back to the drawing board to make the necessary adjustments.

The statuesque 23 year-old is ‘pumped’ up and excited at 12 days out.

“I am as pumped as my muscles, I feel so proud of the progress that I made from my last package. As an athlete, it’s always about going back to the drawing board and making the necessary adjustments. I did just that.”

Conway, popularly known as ‘Minnie”, stated that a little progress adds up every day that can create big results. She is ready to reap the results with a top three finish in the Miss Wellness class.

“I honestly believe hard work reaps rewards. I acknowledge my peers and their abilities but I also know what I am capable of is more than enough to place in the top three.”

Quizzed on how her show prep has been so far, Conway said, “When you’re doing what you’re passionate about it feels nothing less than bliss. This prep has been better than my last and the results clearly show. Training remains intense but most importantly intentional.

Conway who has aspirations of becoming a doctor is laser focused with a positive mindset heading into the highly anticipated event.

“My only mindset right now is to stay focused, keep working hard, be more disciplined, and to work diligently to look better than my last competition.”

In conclusion, Conway, who started competing in 2018, thanked her friends, family as her supporters. “I am forever grateful for the continuous support which also adds value to this bodybuilding journey.”

Doors for the event which is set to attract the cream of Guyana’s fitness athletes are set to open from 18:00hrs and tickets cost $2500. See you there.
