The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has declared Guyana to be the top country for both the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) according to Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand.
In a short video posted on the Ministry of Educa-tion’s Facebook page, the minister yesterday announced the overall top students for the two exams and the students who also did the best in various subjects for the Caribbean. “This year Guyana got the most outstanding CAPE student for the Carib-bean…Guyana is also the most outstanding country with the most outstanding students overall for CSEC… and we also got several other awards,” said the Minister.
Uotam Heeralall of Anna Regina Secondary is the top student for CSEC and the best student for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Meanwhile, Atishta Seenarine of Saraswati Vidya Niketan was named the top student for CAPE and also the best student in Natural Sciences in the Caribbean.
Additionally, Sheridan Dyal of Queen’s College was declared the most outstanding student for the Sciences at CSEC, while Saskia Twahir also of Queen’s College was named the best student for both Humanities and Business. Joshua Adrian of the Diamond Secon-dary was named the best student for Agricultural Science, a double award for the Caribbean.
“I’m very very very happy to say that the work put in during COVID and the efforts made to make sure the children continued with their education are bearing fruit,” posited the minister yesterday.
