Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, during his opening statement, noted that these bridges are being worked on to ease the traffic on the East Bank when work starts on the East Bank Development Project.

“In our continuing quest of ensuring that the Linden/ Lethem route is continually accessible, earlier in the year we had awarded contracts for 32 bridges from Kurupukari, to Lethem. Today we are signing off on contracts for all the remaining bridges from where the CDB-UKCIF-funded projects end (Linden to Mabura Hill), now we are signing off on the remaining bridges from Mabura Hill to Kurupukari”, he said.

Former Minister of Public Infrastructure David Patterson has said that the ministry will have a large unspent balance at the end of the year.
