Rehabilitation work at the historic City Hall building in Georgetown is proceeding according to schedule and is expected to be completed in May/June 2023 says Mayor Ubraj Narine.
In an interview with Stabroek News yesterday, Narine said the work is being monitored by the city engineer. He added that internal work is being done on the building at the moment and the change in weather will not hinder the rate at which the work is being done. The mayor also said that the pace of rehabilitation work on City Hall is proceeding according to plan.
In September last year, a contract worth $780 million for the restoration of the building was signed with Fides Ltd, a Trinidadian construction company. The rehabilitation is being funded by the Government of Guyana.
