Dear Editor,
I saw on Facebook an article in commemoration of International Civil Aviation Day (December 7, 2022 and took some time to appreciate the female geniuses in Guyana’s Aviation Sector.
Captain Okolo Green was mentioned as one of the earliest female aviators.
I called her home to congratulate her since I knew her growing up in Lodge, but learnt that she had migrated to England because she was not allowed to fill a vacancy in the civil aviation department in Guyana, for which she was qualified.
This forced her recently to migrate to England.
Dear Editor, I also read interesting letters by Ministers Kwame McKoy and Bishop Juan Edghill.
I hope Editor, your journalist, can obtain some explanation from these two Ministers, the latter responsible for the aviation sector why this born Guyanese could not be given employment in Guyana.
Yours faithfully,
Nigel Bacchus
