Region #3, and Region #9 recorded contrasting wins when the inaugural One Guyana President’s Cup kicked off at the National Track and Field Facility, West Coast Demerara on Sunday evening.
Region #3 edged Region #6 in the opening match of the tournament 5-4. Stephon McDonald recorded a hat-trick that included a 90th+4 winner. He also found the back of the net in the fifth and 17th minute.
Adding goals in the 21st and 38th minute respectively were Sherral Daniels and Matrim Martin.
For the losers, Leonardo Adams, Keon Williams, Dane Johnson and Allister Williams scored in the 32nd, 45th+2, 62nd and 84th minute respectively.
Meanwhile, Region #3 crushed Region #1 by a 6-0 score. Malcolm Miggins fashioned a double in the 33rd and 85th minute while Junior Redman, Trayon Bobb, Leo Lovell, and Colwyn Abrams netted in the 42nd, 47th, 56th and 63rd minute respectively.
The event is penciled in to resume tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club ground, Bourda. Region#10 will oppose Region #5 at 18:30hrs, while Region #4 engages Region #7 at 20:30hrs.
