The bodies of a State Counsel and her partner were yesterday discovered in a locked Nissan X-Trail SUV at Canal Number 2, Belle West, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
Investigators suspect that the man shot the woman and then turned the gun on himself.
Dead are 31-year-old Asasha Ramzan of Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Peter Charles, 31, of Canal No.2 whose bodies were found in the vehicle which was parked on a deserted section of Clay Brick Road in Belle West.
Ramzan, who was an attorney, was admitted to the bar in November 2020 while Charles was a barber.
When Stabroek News visited the scene yesterday, a security guard, Thuramania Jhagroo, who was on duty at the old clay brick factory which is some distance from where the vehicle was parked, recounted that she saw the vehicle at about 10:30 am but was unaware that persons were inside.
The woman added that it was not until Charles’ brother and brother-in-law came to ask her for a phone call that she was made aware that there were two bodies in the vehicle.
“I just see the vehicle park at the back deh and then later on I see he brother and he brother-in-law walking come and they ask me for a phone call and I give them a phone call and then they seh that two people dead in the car… that the husband shoot he wife and so they call them relative and the police.”
Asked if she heard any gunshots, Jhagroo replied in the negative, “Me nah hear nothing and why I didn’t check cause normally nuff vehicle does come and park at the back deh.”
The families of both Ramzan and Charles declined to speak yesterday.
There was no official release from the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit up to press time.
In a statement yesterday, the Attorney General’s Chambers mourned Ramzan’s passing.
