Disappointed with Digicel’s service

Dear Editor,

I recently purchased a new phone from the Digicel branch in Main Street which had a fault difficult for me to detect, as its “broadcast” sent heavy electronic static sounds to whomsoever I called.  But at my end I hear nothing at all!

Within days of buying it, I returned it to the store and the person who first brought the ‘broadcast’ problem to my attention was in the store with me and called my phone from hers, and immediately a hideous static sort of misconnection electronic noise was coming out of her phone which made the other patrons present laugh!

The staff there who also heard it agreed to take it in to be repaired. Although the phone was brand new, I didn’t even get a replacement phone until days after. Unfortunately, it was not of the same quality as it should have been, but one about 20 years old!

After two weeks of being deprived of my brand-new phone, (when by Consumer Law it should have been replaced), I was informed that it had been repaired and was ready for collection.

The next day I collected it. And unfortunately, the problem persisted.  The Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission, who were involved from the

inception are still dealing with it and it is now being checked out independently. But this very dissatisfied customer is deprived without his phone again!

Yours faithfully,
