Defending Jacob Cup champion, Queen’s College, successfully defended their title in the 1945 edition, against St Stanislaus College in the final on first innings points at the British Guiana Cricket Club (BGCC) ground, Thomas Lands.
Fourteen-year-old Bruce Pairaudeau smashed 152 runs which included 17 fours in the first innings, as Queens College amassed 296 for 3 in the two-day affair. C. Agard supported with 58 runs, whilst J.M.F. Richmond, and H. Edghill added 43 and 30 runs respectively.
For St Stanislaus, R. Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 1-37 from eight overs, while C. Fitt and N. Gomes recorded 1-39 and 1-60 respectively.
In reply, St Stanislaus was dismissed for 120. C. Fitt battled to an unbeaten 28 runs, whilst J. Camacho and R. Shepherd scored 27 runs apiece. R. Morris claimed 4-15 in nine overs, while B. Mook-Sam tallied 2-39 from nine overs.
Following on, St. Stanislaus amassed 194-8 in their second innings as time expired in the contest, with Queen’s College securing the championship after winning the first innings points. C. Fitt top scored again with 68 runs, while J. Camacho and A. Jones scored 28 and 21 runs respectively.
Bowling for Queen’s College, E. Archer claimed 3-17 from six overs, while H. Edghill supported with 3-20 in five overs. Supporting with 2-30 in nine overs was C. Agard.
